- SherryAug 26, 2023$20 to Park & the Park is Not Dog Friendly
The other reviewer hit all the important points. Dogs are not allowed on the shuttle buses. Our “hike” ended up just being the walk from the parking lot to the town area. It took so long and was so miserably hot that we didn’t want to hike a trail.
$20 to park. It’s a 3 day pass but who is interested to go for 3 days?
5 foot tall weeds are so overgrown by the river embankment that you cannot even view the river as you trudge toward the town.
Half of the exhibits were closed but it was no heartbreak because the ones that were open were lacking and unmanned. The park is “trash free” so they provide NO TRASH RECEPTACLES anywhere in the park. Responsible per owners left their bags of poop along the path. Patrons of restaurants left their empty cups etc littered throughout the park. How frustrating to not have any trash cans.
I will say that the retailers were all very dog friendly, with many offering samples of treats they sold. Also, many eateries had outdoor seating which was dog friendly. - MikeJun 25, 2022Dog unfriendly
Harpers Ferry was a great activity in the past but now they have turned unfriendly. The parking is restricted, shuttle buses do not allow dogs and poop bags don’t exists in the park. Even if you bring your own, no trash cans available. This is a trash can free park so be mindful to bring your own 55 gallon trash can.
